Xoller is another artist who needs to be signed to one of the big labels – Universal, Sony, or Warner Music Group. Oh my, can she sing!
Xoller is the solo project of Ella Zoller, who is half of dream-wave duo PROM. She recently released her debut single, “Warning Shot,” taken from her debut EP, Diamond In My Head, slated to drop soon.
According to Xoller, “‘Warning Shot’ is an ode to addiction. Many of us live in a series of addiction cycles, passing from one craving to the next. Every time we become fixated on something, whether it be the classics — booze, cigarettes, or love itself — we think we’re strong enough to ride the wave and come out alive on the other side. But there’s always a moment when a warning shot fires off; we do something crazy and someone who loves us says, ‘You better get that shit under control,’ and we just shrug it off. Then that same shit hits the fan and those friends who warned us scatter.”
“Warning Shot” opens on an elegant resonant piano backed by cavernous rumbling tones flowing into a viscous dream-pop melody. An oscillating synth trembles deliciously, imbuing the music with echoing depth and gravitational pull. The rhythmic pulse of the bottomless bass and popping percussion deliver a measured beat that’s hecka-addictive.

Xoller’s voice, full of creamy, melancholic surface colors, is a confection of pure beauty. Wistful, evocative, alluring, and redolent, it’s not only exudes dynamic sonic pressure, but radiates lush washes of cool timbres on enchanting tones. As the harmonics swell on the chorus, taking on lusters of surging colors, Xoller’s tones mount like a slo-mo atomic tempest.
Ominous lyrics herald the universal predicament of context.
“They told me about you / Word for word a warning / You can tell I doubted / I’ll believe it in the morning / First sight of trouble / I tell myself to hide / You want a thrill / And babe that’s alright / This is a warning shot / Don’t let your heart get caught.”
“Warning Shot” surpasses superb. The hypnotic melody combined with the gorgeous gliding voice of Xoller leads to sonic contagion.
