Emo-trap/R&B artist Toni Romiti dropped the music video for “Need Me” a few days ago. “Need Me” follows close on the heels of Romiti’s previous track, “Heard It All Before,” which dropped a few months ago, in May.
Last year, Romiti dropped her debut EP, Tomboy, on RCA Records, but has since left the label, and is now an indie.
According to Romiti the song “It speaks about how one partner’s fragile ego can ruin an entire relationship. Oftentimes, one partner is only using the other to make themselves feel better. It’s manipulative, and it’s not a real relationship. It’s just a narcissist trying to fill the void [...] I want my listeners to know that they deserve better than a relationship like that. Break free, and let that ego-maniac be single.”
“Need Me” opens on soft elegant guitar riffs flowing into a potent trap beat with cool savors of R&B riding overhead, as Romiti struts her velvety, creamy voice.
The lyrics to the song make Romiti’s feelings crystal clear: “You need me / To feed your ego / But you don't need me / Seems like you need hoes / Let's keep it simple / Send me a signal.”
Romiti started out as a basketball player, but later elected to pursue music. She left South Carolina and moved to L.A., where she ended up writing for Chris Brown’s album, Heartbreak on a Full Moon. At the present time, she is laying down tracks for her debut album, Unladylike, slated to drop this year.
“Need Me” opens on soft elegant guitar riffs flowing into a potent trap beat with cool savors of R&B riding overhead, as Romiti struts her velvety, creamy voice. It’s a voice of crystal clarity, cashmere textures, and smooth blushes of coloration. Her buttery delivery makes the song seductive and sultry, rife with tantalizing wisps of recollection, as she narrates her sonic tale.
“Need Me” is suave, exuding rich indulgent flavors, a tight and right rhythm, and the delicious voice of Toni Romiti, nuanced and evocative.
