What The Dream Had Created is a concept album, revolving around unfiltered subconscious fears and emotions. According to the band,” It can be seen as a string of short stories that piece together a night of dreams.”

Written and produced over a period of six months, the album blends elements of dream pop with the flowing progression of prog-rock, textured with velvety gleaming surfaces and streaming colors.

Formed in 2014, the band is made up of two brothers, Micah Nachtigal (guitar, vocals) and Matt Nachtigal (drums, synths). The brothers began playing together when young, and discovered their distinctive sound by playing with the community. Once they learned the intricacies of production, they gained the creative freedom to expand and evolve their music.

According to the band,” It can be seen as a string of short stories that piece together a night of dreams.”

Comprising a baker’s dozen of tracks, the album opens with “Clock, Pt. 1,” a short dreamy fusion of swelling colors, drifting and floating like smoke on the wind. Tracks not to be missed include “The Tower,” a song about becoming entrapped and suffering the psychological angst of loneliness. Micah’s wistful, lingering voice infuses the tune with creamy austerity, as the measured pulse of the rhythm undulates in rippling shimmers underneath. The song captures the emotional turmoil surely experienced by Prometheus.

“Rain” opens on dripping guitar savors, as Micah’s gentle, wavering tones glide overhead. The subdued crying of a tight guitar imbues the music with hypnotic hues. Wafting synths swirl and tumble with gentle washes of glowing pastel pigments. As the washes increase in intensity, the music assumes a supercharged electrifying radiance, luminous and simultaneously transparent.

“The Death We Have Created” rides a gently sparkling guitar as Micah’s resonant tones hover delicately above the emerging soundscape. As the harmonics gather momentum, the tune thrums with a darker energy, then transitions into a glittering dreamscape surging with a relentless mood.

What The Dream Had Created delivers dreamlike sonic colors traveling on smooth prog-rock surfaces. The totality is superbly mesmerizing.
