SORRY GHOST DROPS GLEAMING ‘NOSEDIVE’
Originally from Baton Rouge, and now based in L.A., pop-punk outfit Sorry Ghost recently unveiled the music video for “Nosedive,” taken from the band’s debut LP, The Morning After.
Produced during quarantine, the video takes clips sent in by fans and merges them into a heady, visual confection.
The band says, "Narrowing the many submissions down to just over 60 clips, we were overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response from our fans. From handmade signs to pet cameos, the creativity of our fans never ceases to amaze us."
Formed in 2018, Sorry Ghost’s Facebook page reveals the band’s genesis: “One day Daniel found himself wanting to start a band while watching repeats of the Naked Brothers Band infamous 2008 performance on the Today Show. The idea of drugs, sex, and rock n' roll was all too appealing to a young lad, so he enlisted the help of drummer friend Tyler Hernandez and guitar failure Matthew Polito. They were previously Sari, but that name was stupid, so now they're Sorry Ghost which is still pretty stupid.”
Speaking to their album, The Morning After, Sorry Ghost shares, "Somehow the songs we wrote in our bedrooms while hanging out actually came together and formed something we're very proud of as a band. We hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed making it."
I love the finessed yet Jovian drums on this track, as well as Daniel’s made-to-order pop-punk voice.
The lyrics to “Nosedive” urge you not to look or hesitate prior to diving into life. Take the plunge and go for it.
“Stop and start and go / A nosedive couldn’t stop your road / Even in the cold / A nosedive still would let you / Just set it off / Hold your breath / Brace your fall / If you jump / You’ll break through these walls.”
“Nosedive” opens on glistening, infectious guitars flowing into a tasty pop-punk melody full of grand vocal harmonies and surging washes of energy. I love the finessed yet Jovian drums on this track, as well as Daniel’s made-to-order pop-punk voice.
The video surpasses most other music videos simply because of its creativity and freshness.
Sorry Ghost has it going on, pumping out buff, muscular pop-punk topped by punchy waves of sonic color and couturier vocals.
