SNUTTOCK RELEASES GLOSSY ‘STAY’
Synth-pop outfit Snuttock recently released the music video for “Stay,” the title track from their forthcoming album, following on the heels of their hypnotic previous album, Rituals Redux, a double album displaying their sonic kinesis.
Rituals Redux took songs from Endless Rituals, reinvented them, and allowed remixers such as Marsheaux, Metroland, SITD, Leather Strip, and a host of other sound wizards to work their magic.
Made up of vocalist Bryan Lee and multi-instrumentalist Christopher Lee Simmonds, Snuttock’s sound ranges from dark industrial, experimental pop, iridescent synth breakdowns, and austere machine-driven textures approaching the brink of psychosis.
Snuttock explains their sound, saying, “Playing the alchemist, the band melds the darker edges of synth-pop with industrial rhythms and the occasional ambient interlude to produce a diverse pathology of electronics. Sure to please those who hunger for all things electronic.”
Bryan’s smooth, gentle voice infuses the lyrics with retro-cashmere tones.
The video, directed by Ernie Mosteller, depicts a surreal series of images incorporating mystery and elements of entertainment spectacles like the circus, vaudeville, live radio, outdated theater, rock concert, magic shows, and aspects of Rush’s Moving Pictures revolving around a woman and a rose. The fusion of sleek, creamy new wave flavors and shimmering synth-pop coloration with the eccentric visuals immerses the video into a tantalizingly weird and wonderful world akin to Alice In Wonderland.
“Stay” opens on gleaming platinum vocal harmonies flowing into a dazzling synth-pop melody riding charming sparkling colors. Bryan’s smooth, gentle voice infuses the lyrics with retro-cashmere tones. A piano-filled bridge shifts the harmonic flavors to tasty layers of resonance, as a glistening guitar assumes precedence, adding delightful flickering hues atop the infectious rhythmic pulse.
“Stay with me / Can’t you see / My heart beats tonight / Stay with me / By my side / I feel so alive.”
“Stay” delivers velvety tangs of synth-pop chock-full of coruscating colors, while Bryan’s polished tones bathe the song in lustrous allure.
