PREMIERE | BETTY MOON DROPS ‘HELLUCINATION’
Betty Moon premieres her new album, entitled Hellucination, on Rawckus. The album comprises 11-tracks reflecting delicious blends of soul, rock, and electro-pop, embellished by the smoldering sensuous voice of Betty Moon.
Moon explains the album’s premise, "With Hellucination coming out during these interesting times in society, I wanted the listener to make the music their own and interpret it in a way that speaks to them. I believe we are all living in a hallucination of sorts, and it's up to you to make it beautiful instead of being a personal hell. The universe can help us create some amazing things in life, but if you let the negativity take control quite the opposite can happen. Never let evil win. Never let evil in. There are powerful messages in this new album. And we do not suffer fools. We can make this world better if we all pay attention to what’s going on in it and what we need to do to contribute to make a difference. Please enjoy these 11 tracks and let me know what you think!"
Born and raised in Toronto, Moon burst into the limelight when A&M Records signed her to a recording contract. Before long, she had received four CASBY nominations: Best Album, Best Single, Best Video, and Best Artist. Later, she relocated to Los Angeles, releasing her album, Rollin Revolution, as well as performing at the Sunset Strip Music Festival, sharing the stage with Marilyn Manson, Steve Aoki, and The Offspring. Many of her songs have been showcased on television and in films, including Last Gasp, Walking the Dead, Bounty Hunters, Dexter, and Californication.
Hellucination opens with “Save My Soul,” a gleaming electro-pop tune full of iridescent, eddying synths radiating washes of polished colors. Moon’s scrumptious voice infuses the tune with tasty gradations of vibrant tones.
“Violent City” displays Moon’s vocal range, from a yummy falsetto to buttery eroticism.
Speaking from a purely subjective viewpoint, the highlights on the album include “Runaway,” an electro-rock tune riding a smooth, potent rhythm crowned by glowing vocal harmonies. “Get Your Gun” delivers dark, throbbing textures rife with muscular alt-rock flavors, and plush lustrous harmonies. A tight, searing guitar solo imbues the music with growling intensity.
“Violent City” displays Moon’s vocal range, from a yummy falsetto to buttery eroticism. Juxtaposed colors, bright against cavernous depth, provide the harmonics with tumescent layers of energy. “Just Hold On” opens on hefty pounding tones, followed by the entry of Moon’s lusciously sensuous voice riding over a jagged, grinding guitar. Chock-full of thick heavy colors, smoky with blazing resonance, this is one of my favorite tracks.
The last track, “Crazy (What You Make Me),” surges with electro-pop oomph flavored with dance-lite savors, infusing the tune with an intoxicating, seductive rhythm, along with radiant vocals oozing irresistible voluptuous impetus.
Hellucination features grand deluxe melodies, cool rhythmic flair, enchanting harmonies, and the lush, hypnotic voice of Betty Moon.
