Special Events
Noise Pop Festival, the Bay Area’s premier indie music and arts festival, is releasing today the lineup of special programming happening at Swedish American Hall, returning this year as Noise Pop Headquarters, as well as art events, happy hours and more at additional festival venues and locations around the city. For a complete schedule of the events at Noise Pop HQ, including additional musical performances and film screenings, visit http://nphq.noisepop.com/.
Returning to Noise Pop and beloved San Francisco landmark Swedish American Hall, the Song Exploder Podcast presented by MailChimp will hold a live recording with Carly Rae Jepsen on February 27. Song Exploder will dissect one of Jepsen’s songs live while telling the story of how that particular track was created. Last year, music fans were treated to dissections of songs by Toro Y Moi and How To Dress Well. Also taking place at Swedish American Hall is a special Noise Pop HQ Culture Hour featuring a conversation with jazz saxophonist and composer Kamasi Washington and music producer and industry veteran David Katznelson on February 25.
The Swedish American Hall celebrated their grand reopening during the 2015 Noise Pop 2015 as a new live music venue and event space, and Noise Pop has continued to bring amazing concerts and cultural programming year-round to the venue. And this year, the venue will once again be ground zero for the festival as a place where attendees and artists can gather before heading out to check out the music and film programs.
The historic Cafe du Nord, in the basement of the Swedish American Hall, reopened in the summer of 2015 by Ne Timeas Restaurant Group and The Bon Vivants, will host after hour events presented by Jack Daniel’s with special impromptu late-night performances. The artists appearing on stage for Noise Pop After Hours at Cafe du Nord will be released each night (February 24-26) via the Noise Pop mobile app.
The Festival is also excited to bring a series of Noise Pop Art Receptions, which will include the annual photo show and the Retrospectacular featuring the poster art of 2016 Noise Pop artist Kii Arens. Noise Pop will also host the special HQ Culture Hour, MailChimp Presents Litquake: I thought It Sucked—One Star Reviews of Beloved Music Masterpieces, which will showcase Bay Area musicians, writers and performers presenting dramatic readings of one-star reviews that trash the world’s most treasured music masterpieces. Bender’s Bar & Grill will host the Noise Pop Happy Hours, which will include performances from a different lineup of bands each evening.
The Noise Pop Festival full music and film lineups are out now and available at lineup.noisepop.com/. This year’s performers include Metric, American Football, Drive Like Jehu, The Mountain Goats, Carly Rae Jepsen, Neon Indian, DIIV, iLoveMakonnen, Parquet Courts, Vince Staples, Bill Callahan, Kamasi Washington, and Her Space Holiday.
Noise Pop badges are on sale, as are individual show tickets to all available currently announced performances, and can be purchased at http://noisepop.com/2016/buy-
If you are interested in catching a particular performance but the show is sold out, you can still purchase one of the festival badges, which grant access to all shows, space permitting. The General Music badge does not grant access to the film screenings and events, and the Film Series badge does not grant you access to music shows. Music + Film Series badges, on the other hand, grant you access to both music and film events. While Super Fan Badges guarantee access to all music shows and film screenings with red carpet treatment for the duration of the festival.
