MIDLO RELEASES SCRUMPTIOUS ‘WASTE YOUR TIME’
“Waste Your Time” is the title of the radiant new music video from New York’s indie-pop duo MIDLO. The song follows on the heels of their previous hit single, “Emotional,” which found its way onto Spotify’s prestigious New Music Friday USA Playlist, as well as Fresh Finds and Love Pop, and recently topped one million streams on Spotify.
Initially the solo project of Dan Middleditch, after teaming up with Renata Baiocco on “Emotional,” MIDLO became a duo. Dan got his start in music working on cruise lines, such as Disney and Norwegian, where he played Johnny Depp, Elvis, and was a member of the “Brat Pack.” When not performing, Dan ensconced himself in his makeshift studio in his cabin.
Discovered by a music executive who was vacationing on a cruise, Dan soon found himself back in L.A., working with Mikey Wax and Jacob Lee on an EP. Almost overnight, Dan went from portraying a rock star to becoming one.
Vibrant and bewitching, “Waste Your Time” effervesces with scrumptious layers and tantalizing sonic surfaces for an ooh la la pop encounter.
On her part, singer-songwriter Renata began her career writing and recording her own music, releasing songs via Soundcloud, followed by appearing on all streaming platforms. Her potent, velvety voice caught the attention of MIDLO, who asked her to collaborate on “Emotional.” The song took off and the two artists, recognizing their musical chemistry, decided to unite.
Scheduled to tour with BBMak in March, MIDLO’s nation-wide tour was postponed due to the pandemic.
“Waste Your Time” opens on percolating pop flavors flowing into an infectious rhythm topped by dazzling washes of color. Ripples of sparkling accents infuse the tune with low-slung delicious textures as MIDLO’s rich, silky tones merge in deluxe-flavored harmonies.
“I'm just gonna waste your time / Cause I'm still fucked up from someone else / I'm just gonna waste your time / Cause I know myself it won't go well.”
