Nashville-based pop-rock/Americana artist Mark Huff just dropped two new tracks, “Made By Hand” and “Breaking Through,” from his forthcoming album, Electric Leaning, produced by Chad Brown.
“Made By Hand” reflects the musings of God on His creation, especially the complications represented by mankind; whereas “Breaking Through,” which Huff refers to as the “B-side,” is about not falling into the quicksand of a relationship.
Electric Leaning displays Huff’s ever-evolving sound. Huff explains, “On the last record, I explained to Chad that I wanted to have a lot of keyboards, pedal steel and backing vocals, with an overall ethereal feel. For the new project, I’m focused on a louder, more muscular sound dominated by the electric guitar.”
Huff’s career began in Las Vegas during the ‘80s, when he form his first original band, Smart Bomb, followed by dropping his first solo album, Happy Judgment Day, in 1989. He finished off another decade of recording with 1999’s Skeleton Faith, amassing vast acclaim.
Upon his arrival in Nashville, Huff amazed Allison Moorer with his talent, at which point she invited him to share the stage on her U.S. tour. He dropped Gravity, in 2005, followed by Feels Like California, in 2010. Both albums resonated with audiences, resulting in tours of Europe and the U.S., along with sharing the stage with artists like Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, The Smithereens, Peter Frampton, Al Green, and Chris Isaak.
As cliché as it sounds, this song definitely rocks, exuding sizzling colors and potent oomph.
According to Huff, “I love the cycle of making records and touring. Being in a new place every night and sharing my songs and stories with people makes me feel alive. I thrive on it, and I love being able to meet so many interesting people along the way. I feel like my songwriting has never been better and I can approach storytelling from a different perspective because of so much life experience and seasoned tastes.”
“Made By Hand” rides a rolling Americana melody flavored with surging rock savors. A brilliant piano accented by a snarling guitar infuses the tune with glowing aromas, as Huff’s rich dulcet voice glides overhead, filling the lyrics with alluring passion.
“Some Things I can’t understand / Slipping through my fingers just like sand / Walking on the water feels just like land / When everything, everything is made by hand.”
“Breaking Through” thrums with So-Cal country-rock energy traveling on gleaming guitars and a driving rhythm. Tinctures of pop tang give the music an appealing mood, rife with yummy relishes of sparkling momentum. As cliché as it sounds, this song definitely rocks, exuding sizzling colors and potent oomph.
“Made By Hand” and “Breaking Through” deliver infectious flows, captivating rhythms, and the scrumptious tones of Mark Huff.
