Nineteen-year-old Julian Daniel released his latest single, “Supernova,” just a few days ago. According to Daniel, “’Supernova’ acknowledges growing up and evolving.”
From Toronto, Canada, Daniel grew up surrounded by music, participating in musical theatre, voice lessons, and dance. He began creating his own music while in high school, blending elements of various genres into his own unique sound and releasing a series of singles. After high school, he opted to focus his time, talent, and energy on music round-the-clock.
Working with Toronto producer-engineer Adam of Pink Distortion Music, Daniel will drop his debut EP later this year, followed by a North American tour. Talking about his sound, a cool amalgamation of alt-pop and trip-pop, Daniel says, “I want to create music that makes people feel free. When you come to one of my shows we are a family and we don’t judge each other - let loose and have fun. My music is truly for people who just want to let loose and not think about tomorrow or the bad day that they had - just live in the moment and have fun.”
When the two voices merge, the resulting vocal flow seethes with tantalizing wisps of flavor, both sumptuous and smoldering.
“Supernova” opens on trickling synths topped by Daniel’s posh tones. When the trip-pop groove takes over, infusing the tune with a tight trap-lite beat, the song elevates with infectious rhythm. Washes of filtered vocal harmonies fill the tune with depth and gleaming radiance.
A droning breakdown presages the entry of a delicious female voice, surging with sensuous savors and tumescent colors. When the two voices merge, the resulting vocal flow seethes with tantalizing wisps of flavor, both sumptuous and smoldering.
“Saw you there / In the corner / Smoky room / I can’t ignore ya / Gucci eyes.” And the lusciously sensual chorus: “You’re my first supernova / You’re my first / But I hardly know ya / You’re my first supernova, nova.”
“Supernova” delivers lustrous silky colors, a compelling sexy rhythm, blushing vibrating harmonic textures, and the captivating voice of Julian Daniel.
