Singer-songwriter and actor Jon Patrick Walker just released a new album, entitled Welcome to the Edge Times, a collection of intimate songs made over the last few years. The songs embrace topics such as love and the human condition.

A well-respected actor, Walker has appeared on television, in film, and on Broadway. He played the role of King George in Hamilton, as well taking on the role of Bruce Springsteen in High Fidelity, and John Lennon in 1969. His television performances include Law & Order, Sex and the City, and Blue Bloods.
Walker began acting at the tender age of eight, but over the years and through it all his passion for music was pushed aside. Finally, a few years ago, the passion erupted and Walker started writing and recording, releasing his first album, The Guilty Party, in 2013, followed by People Going Somewhere and You and I.
His latest album contains 10-tracks, beginning with the title track, opening on a light melancholic guitar topped by Walker’s evocative voice, exuding nostalgic flavors and hues of recollection.
Simple yet effective, there’s a captivating raw quality about this song.
Entry points on the album include “We Won The War,” a tune reminiscent of Dave Mason, only inflected by Walker’s high sweet tenor. “Angelina of the Sky” rides a delicate strumming guitar topped by Walker’s velvety tones accompanied by softly glowing harmonies. Tender and affectionate, it’s a gorgeously flowing tune, gentle and nuanced.
“Luv U Girl” travels on folk-pop flavors, gentle, and almost Celtic at times. There’s a cutting tension to the vocals, infusing the tune with lingering sharp accents that become warm and attractive.
“Blues For My Baby” exudes bluesy folk-lite colors riding a sad melody full of drawling textures highlighted by a mournful harmonica. Simple yet effective, there’s a captivating raw quality about this song.
“Whatchoo Gonna Do” features shimmering flavors full of stormy colors and tight, urgent vocal tones reflecting ominous timbres.
What sets Welcome to the Edge Times apart is stripped down clarity, eschewing over-production, thus emphasizing the mesmerizing voice of Jon Patrick Walker.
