Synth-pop outfit Heartracer recently released the music video for “Darling,” a song about the emotional commitment of love.

Formed in Richmond, Virginia by brothers Chris and Chip Cosby, the band’s name – Heartracer – was borrowed from Chris’ tachycardia, a condition where his heart arbitrarily beats faster. Releasing their debut album, In Flight, in 2013, they followed with two EPs, Summer Gold and Eat Your Heart Out. They’ve shared the stage with Walk The Moon, Future Islands, Third Eye Blind, Banks, Priory, Joywave, and Pvris.
Heartracer is made up of Chris Cosby (keyboards, lead vocals), Chip Cosby (guitar, vocals), Wes Tatum (bass, keyboards, vocals), and Bryan Reyes (drums, percussion). Difficult to categorize, the band’s sound blends layers of ‘80s and ‘90s synth-pop, vaguely reminiscent of Duran Duran and Aha, with tinctures of modern pop flavors into delectable soundscapes.

The video is set in indefinable space lit with flickering illumination shifting from misty blue to reddish-purple to stark black of infinite depth. As the band performs, the mood and feeling hark back to the heady days of MTV, when music videos projected effervescent sensations exuding delightful sparks of sonic energy and warm, articulate visuals.
With “Darling,” Heartracer delivers lustrous harmonics, an infectious rhythm, shimmering colors, and deluxe, alluring vocals.
