Genocide Shrines - All And/Or Nothing
Colombo-based death metal outfit Genocide Shrines just released a new track, called “All And/Or Nothing,” a rip-snorting, fire-breathing demonic track from the forthcoming four-way split, entitled Scorn Coalescence, with Serpents Athrist, Heresiarch, and Trepanation, slated to drop July 26 via Cyclopean Eye Productions.

Made up of Chathurgana Fonseka, aka Tridenterrorcult (chants), and BlasphemousWarGoat (warhammers), Genocide Shrines burst onto the scene in 2012 with the release of their debut EP, Devanation Monumentemples.
The band’s Facebook page sums up their sound: “Ancient Metal of Death from Sri Lanka, initiated in 2011 by the ancient Order Of Raavan. In his name, we desecrate.”
Tridenterrorcult describes the new track, saying, “‘ALL AND/OR NOTHING’ is an extension on the subject of Total Death and delves into the void of Shunyaism, loosely described as ‘nothingness’. This ontological focus on the topic of (non)existence derives heavily from Buddhist traditions as detailed in Theravada and Mahayana sects and is a further exploration of the true purpose of the individual.”
With “All And/Or Nothing” Genocide Shrines deliver brutal bestial death metal of supercharged proportions, rife with massive unbridled dynamism.
“All And/Or Nothing” opens on a pummeling rhythm composed of vicious double-bass drums and a searing blast beat. A rumbling, vibrating bass line from the bowels of hell provides thrumming accompaniment. Ferocious guitars exude industrial-like riffs, thick, heavy, and palpitating with Factor Five resonance. The harmonics descend into a doom-esque refrain, dark and knotted with muscular tones, as Tridenterrorcult’s growling fiendish vocals infuse the lyrics with seething guttural intonations.
While listening to this track, you come to realize you’re little more than a listless subhuman hominoid, a passenger on the vehicle of life, so caught up in depravity you don’t recognize your own juncture in dying. You merely shuffle to the door, where, like refuse dropped down a chute, you’re deposited into the miasma of your existence.
