New Jersey pop-punk outfit FRND CRCL recently released the lyric video for “Loose Cannon,” the second single from the band’s forthcoming second album, entitled Internet Noise, and slated to drop May 1. The album was produced by the band and Tyler Skye of Monoplane Recording Studios.
According to the song’s press release, “’Loose Cannon’ is about embracing the mentality and spirit of punk rock, with lyrics about navigating through the bullshit of life, dealing with relationships, doing your own thing and going your own way.”
Formed in 2018, FRND CRCL is made up of Aaron Smith (drums), Dom Giacalone (lead guitar), Zac Johnson (vocals, guitar), and Adam Skirvin (vocals, bass). Since forming, the band has established itself as one of South Jersey’s premier pop-punk outfits, along with building up a fan base in Philly and the Tri-State region. They’ve shared the stage with 311 and Boys of Fall.
A searing guitar solo infuses the tune with luminous muscle, followed by a thumping breakdown topped by delicious vocal harmonies slowly moussing up to surging flavors and bright resonant output.
As of right now, FRND CRCL’s album release show is scheduled for May 29, at Creep Records in Philadelphia, performing alongside Moment to Capitalize, Goalkeeper, and Off Guard. So if you’re in the area and the pandemic is under control, definitely check them out.
Vaguely reminiscent of Blink-182, “Loose Cannon” opens on a low-slung guitar topped by an angsty pop-punk voice. Stuttering guitars precede the harmonics ramping up, riding a crunching beat, while the bridge leading to the chorus is where the music really takes off, pushing out heft energy and gleaming textures of growling/shimmering riffs.
“Well I heard what you said about me, and I’m not mad at all / These things just happen, you might as well move on.”

“Loose Cannon” kicks out galvanizing pop-punk relish, an infectious rhythm supporting brawny guitars, as well as semi-sarcastic vocals.
