SoCal dream-pop duo For Sure released their debut EP, Distance Demos, August 28, a six-track collection of gorgeously lingering music.

The EP was written, recorded, and self-produced prior to the two collaborators ever physically meeting.
According to For Sure, “Can’t believe that we’re here now. We met through a Craigslist ad - fast forward 3 months and we wrote, produced, mixed, and mastered an entire EP ourselves before ever physically meeting. Life is surreal, it hasn’t been easy for anyone these this year, but this is ever proof that music always brings us together.”
For Sure is made up of Julian Curelop, who handles lyrics, vocals, guitar, synth, sound mixing, and mastering, and Craig Cisneroz, who plays lead guitar, bass, percussion, and synth.
Opening with “Give It Up,” which travels on a crisp drum shuffle intro, followed by the entry of glittery guitars and shimmering waves of synths. Curelop’s tasty and rich voice infuses the lyrics with creamy warm colors, while glowing surface hues glide on gossamer textures. I love the ethereal harmonies, adding depth and dimension sans overcompensation.
“Cinema” blends hints of velvety surf rock with resonant dream-pop flavors, flowing on soft tendrils, enveloping, and simultaneously misty. There’s a shiny allure to this track, drawing listeners into the wonderment of the fantasy world of the silver screen.

“The Last Dance” features darker tints initially and then mousses up to smoldering SoCal flushes of smooth vibrance as if dancing close and slow in the dimming light of a setting sun. Elusive, yet at once beguilingly tantalizing, this song teems with luxurious opulence.
“Heard It Twice” displays elements of new wave mixed with surging dream-pop layers. “Home When I’m Alone” rolls out on an austere rhythm expanding to sheens of luminous guitar notes, trickling with vivacious expression, subdued yet enticing in its gracious metallic undertones.
Distance Demos is superbly wrought, pushing out lustrous rollers of polished dream-pop and lusciously sugary vocals. If you’re into lush, plush dream-pop, don’t miss this one.
