Bay Area alternative outfit Everything But The Everything recently released “Intimacy,” a new wave song chock-full of retro flavors from the ‘80s.

The brainchild of Izzy The Gent, a former member of The Frail, “Intimacy” features the talent of Luke Sweeney.
I'm excited to submit the new single "Intimacy" by Bay Area group Everything But The Everything. The new wave single hearkens back to an 80's style/feel with lo-fi appeal.
Izzy The Gent grew up in Seaside, California, where after his parents took him to see the movie La Bamba, he decided he needed to play the guitar, followed by starting a band with school friends. Unfortunately, Izzy didn’t know how to play guitar, so his bandmates talked him into playing bass.
The band played punk rock and went through a series of guitar players, leading to Izzy losing interest in music. A girlfriend introduced him to house music, followed by Izzy moving to San Francisco to become a DJ/promoter. With his promotion company, Roundmusic Presents, he began to build a reputation and make connections. Stimulated, he started looking to join a band.
Shimmering, lustrous guitar textures infuse the tune with tantalizing washes of new wave colors, while pensive, deliciously flavored vocals imbue the lyrics with dreamy tones.
After meeting The Frail, he discovered they were looking for a bassist. He auditioned and got the gig, followed by playing to packed houses at the Independent, sharing the stage with Dirty Vegas and Fugiya Miyagi.
Later, he decided he wanted more control over the music. As Izzy The Gent puts it, “I want to write and mold my own songs. For better or worse, the onus falls on me and I accept everything that comes with it.”
He goes on to add, “Everything But The Everything is my baby.”
“Intimacy” opens on gleaming, wafting tones flowing into a contagious rhythm driving by a rumbling bassline. Shimmering, lustrous guitar textures infuse the tune with tantalizing washes of new wave colors, while pensive, deliciously flavored vocals imbue the lyrics with dreamy tones.
Flush with gloriously smoldering energy, the harmonics surge with low-slung mesmerizing murky surfaces topped by sheens of luminous highpoints, giving the song a wicked beguiling charisma.
Everything But The Everything has it going on! Jam-packed with grand misty guitars, “Intimacy” worms its way into your ears, never letting go.
