Just a few days ago, singer-songwriter Emma Lamontagne unveiled her new music video, entitled “Love Games.”

Lamontagne explains the song, saying, “’Love Games’ is about the realities of the online dating world. A year ago, I was going through a breakup and my friends signed me up for Tinder so I could ‘get myself back out there.’ I think I swiped no to almost everybody in Ottawa, but inevitably I ended up matching with someone I knew and we hit it off. Just as it was leading up to that first date, I was ghosted.”
From Ottawa, Ontario, Lamontagne started piano lessons early on, studying classical music and theory. When she was eight-years-old, she began voice lessons, but dropped her musical endeavors when her family moved to Germany. Returning to Canada when she was 14, she resumed her interest in music. Only this time, she gravitated to pop, rock, and blues.

By the time she turned 15, she was writing her own songs. Things changed when she entered Ottawa’s She’s The One competition, which she won, resulting in working with Cadence Music Group/Universal Records, as well as some of Canada’s top songwriters, such as the Fourth Floor Productions team. In 2017, Lamontagne released her debut single, “I Don’t Sleep,” capturing more than 400,000 streams on Spotify.
“Love Games” opens on dark stylish keyboards topped by Lamontagne’s cool velvety voice. As the harmonics gather force, a contagious pulsing rhythm enters supporting a gleaming pop melody rife with gliding textures and polished glittering surface colors.
