Vocalist Filo Greganti explains the EP’s genesis, “There was no deadline for Empathy. There was no rush, which permitted us to perfect every single little thing in the music, artwork and videos, with the support of Lockjaw Records.”

Recorded under the watchful eyes of several producers, the EP reflects precise sonic continuity that’s normally unattainable with multiple producers.

Edward in Venice’s sound merges the essential ingredients of melodic hardcore with strong aromas of pop-punk, as well as hints of emo tossed in for seasoning. The band has toured the UK, Canada, and Japan, sharing the stage with the Descendents, Flatliners, A Wilhelm Scream, and Millencolin, and appeared at the following festivals: Groezrock, Punk Rock Holiday, and Manchester Punk Festival.

Empathy features six hard-hitting tracks, as well as one mellowed-out jazz flavored track, called “Manolo Riddim.”

“Blue Whale” travels on shimmering metallic guitars and a ferocious rhythm, as well as, once again, skintight and impressive drumming.

“The Deserter” opens on grinding, dirty guitars flowing into a pop-punk melody with dual vocal flavors, one melodic, and the other fulminating. A tight guitar accent infuses the tune with compact, incandescent colors.

“High Tide” rides potent pop-punk momentum atop a tough rhythm driven by stellar drum fills. A bass-focused breakdown with rumbling percussion and stuttering-lite guitars gives the tune a tasty shifting pause.

“Blue Whale” travels on shimmering metallic guitars and a ferocious rhythm, as well as, once again, skintight and impressive drumming. In fact, the band should make sure they don’t lose this pocket demi-god, as he really adds pizzazz and punch to the music. A tender, almost elegant breakdown imbues the music with gentle ambiance prior to going nuclear.

The final track, “Vaporeon,” blends muscular elements of metalcore and punk into a brawny tune full of hefty vocals, and beau coup wicked sonic force.

Edward In Venice delivers supercharged sonic magnitude on Empathy. Turn it on, sit back, and enjoy the declarative causality of intense pop-punk amalgamated with melodic hardcore.
