BLACK LAB RELEASES SPLENDID ‘IN A MOMENT’
Alternative electronic duo Black Lab releases the lyric video for “In A Moment,” examining the concept of time.

Producer-composer Andy Ellis says, “We’ve come a long way. ‘In a Moment’ is our most cinematic track to date.” While singer-songwriter Paul Durham adds, “Songs aren’t enough anymore. We want to make movies out of sound.”
Initially formed in San Francisco, the band later moved to Los Angeles, where they turned out hit music for Geffen and Epic, with songs featured in major Hollywood films, trailers, TV shows and commercials, including Blade: Trinity, Permanent Midnight, The Covenant, Pretty Little Liars, House MD, Banshee, The Shield, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, What I Like About You, Flashpoint, Honda, GM, and a host of others.
After leaving Epic, the band became a duo, working at a distance.
Durham explains, “I moved to Montana and the space out here affected me. As we threw the tracks back and forth online, they took on a bigger scope.”
Trickling, glowing, ethereal harmonies permeate the tune with resonant depth and coruscating scope.
“I like working alone,” shares Ellis, “and also I like collaborating. Sending tracks back and forth with Paul is the best of both worlds.”
Since then, Black Lab has released six albums, an unplugged record, an acoustic DVD collection, and electronic instrumentals, all leading up to “In A Moment.”
“In A Moment” opens on spider-like filaments of shimmering synths riding a low-slung percussive pulse, as Durham’s wistful tones glide on dripping colors, infusing the lyrics with potent and passionate articulation. Gleaming, percolating harmonics, along with deep droning textures imbue the song with both light and dark hues.
