Betty Moon returns with another excellent music video, “Waste Your Time.” The song is from Moon’s most recent album, Chrome, the source of three other hit singles: “Sound,” “Natural Disaster,” and “Parachute.”
Originally from Canada, Moon got her start in high school, when she sold over 10,000 home-produced records of her original music. A&M/Universal heard a rumor about some teenager in Toronto who was selling thousands of discs, so they checked it out. They gave Moon a recording contract, which eventually resulted in four CASBY Awards for Best Artist, Best Video, Best Single, and Best Album.
What sets Betty Moon apart from the mass of artists is her sensuous voice, her innovative fearlessness, and her ability to seamlessly blend a variety of styles, such as rock, EDM, pop, electro-pop, and future house, into cool contagious music.
Moon relocated to L.A. in 2010, where she not only composed and produced a series of popular albums, but was the featured performer at the Sunset Strip Music Festival, along with Quiet Riot, Marilyn Manson, and The Offspring. Moon will be dropping a new collection of songs during the first quarter of 2019.

“Waste Your Time” opens with smooth shimmers of surfacing colors from the synths atop a pulsing, compelling rhythm. As the harmonics coalesce and take on energy, the melody becomes a stylish electro-pop number discharging mesmerizing pull. Moon’s sultry tones infuse the tune with lush timbres and graceful textures.
The video gives a picture of the lifestyle of the indolent wealthy, as Moon essentially does nothing but fritter away time in an opulent mansion with a pool surrounded by vast lawns and beautiful flowers. Every item inside the mansion is the crème de la crème, expensive and beautiful. It’s all perfectly grand, especially when the camera pulls back and provides a panoramic shot of the house and the grounds, with Moon lounging seductively by the pool.
Initially, the viewer’s response is a kind of jealous admiration – all that money, all that time, anything you want you can buy. But by the end of the video, you realize it must get really boring doing nothing all day, every day. Betty Moon makes her point with subtlety.
“Waste Your Time” blends electro-pop and rock elements into a scrumptious song delivered with Betty Moon’s inimitable panache.
