Ever go to a rock show and end up loving the opening band’s set the most? That’s common for fans seeing As Lions live. In a music industry so focused on finding the next Billboard 200 chart-topping artist, it’s refreshing to hear a band that's determined to make the music they want.
As Lions, formed in 2015 from the members of Rise to Remain, is possibly the most passionate group of musicians in modern rock. The London-based band is fronted by Austin Dickinson, son of Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson; however, As Lions never uses their singer’s connection to Iron Maiden to promote itself.
With powerful songs like “White Flags,” it’s clear that As Lions has simply perfected hard rock and injected it with a high dose of passion. Lyrics reflect overcoming struggles and chasing dreams featuring in cinematic choruses that just get stuck in your head because they’re so catchy, yet the band never sacrifices quality for accessibility.

This passion doesn’t end with their music; As Lions remains highly energetic on stage, never failing to mesmerize the crowd, even when they’re simply opening acts for bands like Trivium or Five Finger Death Punch. That’s quite impressive, considering how they’ve only released two songs so far, but it only shows how a band’s presence on stage can be the key to a successful show.
As Lions is set to release their debut EP this year. More on As Lions.
