AMA RELEASES LOW-SLUNG ‘HOW I DO’
Irish hip-hop/R&B artist Ama recently dropped a dope new banger, called “How I Do,” a song “about even though the people closest to you have a certain influence over you they realize that they cannot change who you are, now you can be the person you want to be.”
From Longford Town, Ireland, Ama dropped his debut EP, Just A Moment,” in 2017, followed by collaborating with other Irish artists in 2018. Right now, he’s working on his full-length album, entitled I Once Was, which will drop this year, although there are no details on the precise date.
Citing influences like Kanye West, Drake, Jay Z, Travis Scott, The Migos, Bryson Tiller and The Weeknd, Ama’s sound blends cool melodicism with potent hip-hop beats into tasty musical concoctions decorated by lyrics that are both revelatory and emotional.
Ama has shared the stage with Kyle, along with performing at the Electric Picnic Festival, while having his songs appear on Spotify’s New Music Friday and The New Eire playlists.
Reverberating layers of vocals inject frosty harmonies, as Ama’s tight and right flow imbues the lyrics with tantalizingly velvety tones.
“How I Do” opens on oozing, revving flavors, flowing into a low, slow, and banging trap beat with a fat bass line and hammering kick drum. Swirling synths ride in the backdrop infusing the tune with gleaming-lite colors radiating cool psychedelic savors. Reverberating layers of vocals inject frosty harmonies, as Ama’s tight and right flow imbues the lyrics with tantalizingly velvety tones.
“Whenever the time is wrong (wrong), quick intermission / Whenever my diamonds on, I fuck on your bitch (bitch) / After I’m finished I'm back on the stage and she sing all my shit / I get it done and submit (submit) / I get it done then I (I get it done).
Followed by the infectious hook:
“She was like cool that's just how I do (do) / How I do, (how I do) / How I do yeah (do do) / She was like cool that's just how I do / How I do, (how I do) / How I do yeah (do do) / She was like cool that's just how I do / How I do, (how I do) / How I do yeah (do do) / She was like cool that's just that just how I (finesse).”
The track amalgamates West Coast hip-hop flavors with tangs of Houston slab.
Ama definitely has it going on, delivering cashmere melodicism atop a muscular rhythm that’s deliciously innovative.
