ROB GEORG RELEASES MARVELOUS ‘RADIO COWBOY'
Country singer-songwriter Rob Georg recently released a new album, entitled Radio Cowboy. Recorded in Nashville, and produced by Kristin K. Smith, songs on the album were nominated by Europe’s Fair Play Country Award, as well as the New Music Award in the U.S.
Born and raised in Tubingen, Germany, Georg, like many artists, grew up taking piano lessons. Later, in his teens, he took up the guitar. Yet, despite being urged to pursue music, he put it off for years, instead, devoting his time and energy to Cutting Horses, serving as president of the National Cutting Horse Association of Germany, along with showing Cutting Horses in Europe and North America.
In 2018, he decided to record two of his songs in Nashville, where he worked with producer Kristin Smith, and released his debut single, “Push That Horn,” followed by “This Ain’t My First Rodeo,” which went on to hit the Top Ten on the U.S. National Radio Hits AC Chart. Since then, Georg has become a celebrated country artist.
Radio Cowboy encompasses 15-tracks, beginning with the title track, opening on a familiar country riff flowing into velvety driving guitars accented by the smooth crying tones of a pedal steel guitar. Georg’s rich, drawling tenor infuses the lyrics with tasty tonal flavors reminiscent of George Strait.
Frankly, there isn’t a subpar track on the album, primarily because of the affluent, tantalizing voice of Rob Georg, oh so appealing.
“This ain’t a rodeo I ain’t pullin’ for first prize / But if you can hear my voice then I’ve got your heart in my sights / I’ll lay you low with the tale of a reckless outlaw runnin' wild / 'Cause ever since I kissed that saddle goodbye / I’ve been a radio cowboy.”
Highlights on the album include “This Old House,” featuring wistful colors riding a bewitching pulsating rhythm, as Georg imbues the lyrics with nuances of tender melancholy. “Dust” travels on dark raw guitars exuding growling flavors, along with psychedelic-tinged guitars delivering alt-rock energy.
“Time For Some Ink,” pervaded by bluesy swampy hues, thrums with black resolves. Snarling guitars ooze out viscous colors, as Georg’s voice takes on shadowy dripping textures. “Higher Ground” opens on gleaming guitars full of upbeat dynamics and surging washes of luminous relish. A rumbling bridge, with shouting harmonies, gives the tune effervescent momentum.
“When I Make It Home For Christmas,” although definitely a Christmas song, might be the most beautiful track on the entire album because of its concentrated passion.
