You wouldn't imagine it, but CBS This Morning has had some great musical acts on. It's strange enough a morning show is having musicians on to perform. That's more of a late night thing. Plus CBS is generally thought of as an old person's network, and that goes double for morning shows.
And yet, CBS This Morning has repeatedly had artists I love on, and they give them the time to play multiple songs.
I first became aware of this phenomenon when I saw that Phoebe Bridgers had made an appearance, and actually got interviewed briefly as well. A few months before Bridgers, her former tourmate Julien Baker was on. They let her play two songs that are over five minutes long! That's crazy, but also great. You don't get to see that on late night.
The reason I am here writing this right now, though, is because Alvvays was just on this Saturday. Yes CBS This Morning is also a weekend show. This whole thing keeps getting weirder. Alvvays is amazing. Their album from last year Antisocialites, is awesome. So the fact they got to play three songs from that album on TV is fantastic. It was their national TV debut, and it was well-deserved.

They played the expected three songs, "Dreams Tonite," "In Undertow," and "Plimsoll Punks." Those were the three singles, so they were obvious choices. They are also all great songs, so complaining would be dumb. This wasn't the best Alvvays has sounds live. I have seen them and they were outstanding and sounded recording quality. The sound seems a smidge off here, but the songs still resonate. So thank you, CBS This Morning, for everything.
